It looks like asparagus. Edit that I have never seen an asparagus plant in the garden before but the top looks like the one in the grocery

I had asparagus in my garden and the top does look like it but the rest of it is all wrong.

It looks like a runner from a succulent like alo vera. But there is no succulent.
What was growing there before. Where did the soil, compost come from?
Scruffiella
Cooch grass runner.

Plenty of species of invasive asparagus as well, so might not be the type you want to keep. This looks like it’s growing from a mature corm. The woody corm will be between the two fronds that are visible in the pic. I use an old pruning saw or a gyprock knife to cut the roots around the corm to remove them, you don’t need to remove all of the water sacs just the corm, some have rhizomatous growth and the spikes travel horizontally underground and will need removing but this doesn’t seem like one of those species.

Asparagus fern.if you want to get rid of it (and you will want to if you’re going to use that ground) you’ll need to trace it back to the nodes. They’re round, brown and translucent. It’s a hassle to get rid of once it’s established so the sooner the better.
StonerRockhound
Asparagus. Massive fields of it, around Koo Wee Rup
picklestixatix
Sparrow Guts, as my kids call it. Delicious

Ignore the people telling you it’s asparagus and you can eat it, they’re trying to poison you.
It’s *Asparagus setaceus* which is not the edible kind.

That’s a hyacinth coming up, you’re in for some pretty great flowers.
