I’m super new at propagating! I was rearranging plants and temporarily had my n’joy pothos in a spot my cat could reach, and she swiped at one of the vines. She ripped this off with her claw – but did NOT ingest anything, I know they’re not cat friendly. My pothos are usually on a very high shelf, it was literally in a different spot for 10 minutes.

Can I propagate this? I think yes because there’s a node and some leaves, it’s just such a teeny tiny cutting 😅 she swiped it off right at the node, so I wasn’t sure.

Hard to tell from the image, but if that little brown dot is an aerial root bump at the node, then yes!

Usually you want a bit more of the stem with little bumps (“nodes”) on them but this particular plant is really eager to prop. So, you might get lucky. I have a bit I cut to prop and two leaves that fell off in the process. All are in a bottle of filtered water and I’ll share results. Fun fact I just learned: these particular plants produce rooting hormones so the water we’re using to prop them can help other cuttings produce roots. How cool is that?
