I saw this at Home Depot for $30 and another variegated monstera for cheap on marketplace. Are Thai constellations just not as rare anymore?

    Correct.

Each node was an opportunity to propagate, and companies have that down to a science. There was also a high reward for selling them so more people got into the growing game until the market was saturated.

No. They’re not rare anymore. Once you see them popping up at home Depot, Lowe’s and Walmart it’s a good indicator.

Local grocery store was selling them for $20 where I am. They had a few a couple months ago.

The big growers like Costa are tissue culturing the (former) hi value houseplants. Not just Thai Con, but also many others. I wouldn’t pay anything over $20 for a nice plant.

my Costco had 10 inch pots with plants so big they had double fenestrations for $39.99

  6. I got mine for like $25 at a local grocery store about a year and a half ago.

Keep in mind tulip mania. There’s always a trendy plant and the earth will always create enough supply to fill demand until someone else arbitrarily chooses the next trend.

Finally got mine for $30 the other day after waiting a couple years. The hype for rare plants drives demand and pushes big growers to produce them. They flood the market and the price always drops.

I’ve been reading, no actual facts but many are speculating that the Albo Monsteras might be next.

    I don’t think they’ve been rare for a bit.

They started popping up at big box stores around $30 about a year ago now.
