He's 2.5 years old. He threw up his dinner. Otherwise seems completely fine. This morning he isn't too keen on eating and is heaving a bit like he might throw up again. Help!
(This was in Mississauga Canada)
Edit: Thank you everyone! Sounds like it is Solanum dulcamara and unlikely to cause effects so many hours later, so the events are probably unrelated.

Touching a berry wouldn’t cause that. Kid is probably just sick
Could be *Solanum dulcamara,* growing round a burdock *Arctium sp.* plant. Usually conidered only mildly poisonous (stomach issues, not organ damage), but individuals can vary in their response.
Bittersweet nightshade
I know exactly what it is. It’s coincidence.
It’s belladonna or deadly nightshade. He “touched it alright”, with his tongue and esophagus
Your child will probably touch things much worse that are seemingly much more benign because we can’t see what’s lurking on everyday items with our eyes.
Fellow anxious mom here! I agree that just touching the plant was not enough to make kiddo sick. He just has an unrelated sickness. But it is obvious you are concerned. Ive been there more times than I can count. Call poison control. They are life savers. They will tell you the best course of action, what to monitor for, and when to be seen.
It’s tummy bug season in the daycares and schools. My kids would get it from grocery carts during this season, since they weren’t in daycare. I have a handful of friends with toddlers, and they have all had to stay home with kids these past 2-3 weeks for tummy bugs. I hope that your LO feels better soon!
Agree bittersweet nightshade just pulled loads of it out the yard, it’s a popular ornamental, mildly poisonous.
# Lonicera morrowii, Its berries are highly toxic.
If you’re ever worried (and live in the US) you can call 1-800-222-1222 for poison control help. They can help with anything you’re concerned someone not only ate but inhaled, swam in, got in their eyes, whatever. They can give good guidance to decide if this is something you should go to an ER for. In my opinion all US based caregivers should have this number saved in their phone.
I used it once when my son sprayed oxiclean in his eye and they gave me very good, nonjudgmental help!
Correlation does not imply causation.
Just because the kid touched the berry (correlation) does not mean the result is he’ll throw up (causation)
He could have been having a dormant sickness for days now, or maybe he touched a million other things and put his fingers in his mouth. Or maybe the food wasnt cooked right or just had an upset stomach.
Did you mean they ate it ? Because touching it would only cause a tactical reaction, which ever. That is unlikely. Unless they ingested it, the throw up is not a result of this.
