I’ve tried my best to take on the most natural and organic lawn care methods since my yard is tiny. I can walk and pull weeds over the entire yard in under 10 minutes. Overall I try to let my grass grow long and thick and it has kept the weeds at bay. But occasionally I get 1 or 2 that pop up. Will I regret pulling this nutsedge? If so I’ll cave and spray.

I had a small handful, pulled them, and haven’t seen any more since. People treat these like they’re invincible; they’re not

You’re good. With 600 sq ft you can get to know each blade of grass by name.

    Just keep pulling.
There might be a rootball in the soil, but it’ll eventually run out of energy to send up chutes.
I’ve never used herbicides and my lawn has remained a monoculture for over a decade

  4. It’s fine to pull them. I’ve hand pulled little areas and they didn’t come back. When people think pulling them makes it worse they’re really just missing a bunch that havnt sprouted yet.

Yea, you’ve seen Wayne’s world where you tell two friends and those two friends tell their friends and so on and so forth. That’s what’s gonna happen with that nutsedge

Just keep pulling and don’t let it spread. I would use a soil knife to get out the nutlets, they typically break off under the roots and form more plants. If you are careful it should be minimally damaging.

You’re telling me there is a weed called “Nutsedge?”

I pull and pull and pull until I reach my nutsedge, then I stop pulling.

Hell I have 9000 sqft and I hand pull. Find it very cathartic after working on a screen all day

You gotta kill it with herbicide. When you pull it, it releases nuts/seeds underground in the root system only to make matters worse. Spray, and know that it will take several seasons to get rid of completely. Do several applications each season and do your entire lawn.

It’s great therapy. Put on earbuds and listen to what you like to listen to. I tend to lie on my side to avoid back and knee pain. Sometimes people slow down as they drive by and I have to wave to show them I did not fall down. I rid my yard of wavy leaf basket grass in the course of 4 months.

Don’t pull the nutsedge. Most other weeds you’ll be fine but you don’t want to pull nutsedge. It releases spores underground and allows even more to pop up

Nutsedge laughs at your attempts to contain it by pulling it
