Given the chance, palm seeds get everywhere and they germinate like crazy. Remove this and maybe the avocado will show up eventually.

If it helps, this is an avocado tree. It’s about 6’2″ with the pot included. The smaller one in a smaller pot sitting on top of the soil is also an avocado, just younger
Looks just like my date palm I grew from a pit. They’re super slow growers. I think mine has 2 leaves now. Took about a year
