Plants need a balance of Light, water, and nutrients for their long term health and growth with light being the most important piece of that puzzle. Think about it like this, no matter how great the appliances and TVs are in your home, you still need electricity to power them. Don’t shortcut the light, and your plants will repay you with fast growth and years of enjoyment!!! Happy growing!!

The neighbor put up a short fence between yards that casts a shadow. For most of the summer it was lined up with the path of the sun but now it’s casting a shadow. Yesterday I scooted the plants back into the sun into what I think might be the perfect permanent location. But in the winter I think the fence does a good job blocking dry winds so I might choose to move them back and forth.

True, I would even say it is like 99% the light. Atleast for Sarracenias and VFTs.

I can see it myself at my plants. I have a lot of them on my balcony, but it is south west faced and the roof causes the sinlight to reach the plants just at afternoon. Also just from one side. It is enought, but not ideal.
Plants in the centre of my garden recieve much longer light and are coloured from every direction, many of the balcony pitchers are coloured like a harlekin, 50% is colourfull, 50% is green. Also the centred plants have brighter colours.

Even more: I learned this year that pitchers can lose colour again, even older pitchers. Our July was really rainy with not too many sunny days. My S. Flava atropurpureas evem lost most of their red and have almost green pitchers now (they were red earlier this year).
