He did well to grow through the rocks on the side of the house that gets the least amount of sun every day, been giving him water occasionally, wondering if it’s a tree?
I don’t think it’s a tree. You’ll probably have to wait until it blooms to be sure what it is. Maybe Solomon’s Seal?

i wonder if it is perhaps a type of goldenrod? like downy goldenrod or whatever is native in your area. it would eventually have lotsa pretty lil yellow flowers if it is

Do you have a Crape myrtle nearby? It kind of looks like a sucker from that to me.
