I've owned this orchid for around 16 years, purchased at a local Seattle garden show. The first time it bloomed was around 9 years ago, it made lots of new leafy growths and I've divided it a couple of times. Now it blooms around once a year. The scent is gardenia-like, not very strong right now but it tends to get stronger as the flower gets older. The medium is around 70% medium bark, 20% sphagnum moss with a small amount of perlite and LECA. It's an easy plant, but I almost gave up in the 7 years waiting for it to bloom.

Almost gave up…That’s the sign of a real orchid grower. I had a plain white phal take 7 years to rebloom.

  2. I just ordered this flower after it was super difficult to find newer posts of people keeping it, this shows up! So sad to hear it might take 7 years to bloom but doesn’t bother me too much. Although, I am going to be keeping it air rooted attached to some cork bark.
