hi guys, i’ve attached a video explaining/showing a little bit about the plant. i bought her 2 months ago, and she had mealy bugs, but other than that she was healthy and gorgeous.

  • bottom watered once a week
  • indirect sunlight
  • occasionally neem oil

i’ve been trying to treat it since, but i decided 2 weeks ago to go to the nursery i bought her at and have them clean it. they sprayed it with a hose (bare root), sprayed with alcohol, and then neem… i think it’s in shock šŸ™ its leaves used to be almost black and vibrant pink… now its flimsy/dried leaves. i tried putting it back in the spot where i had it but it didn’t improve. i tried a different room and i feel like it might’ve made it worse? what should i do? this was one of my favorite plants too šŸ’”

Wow, they really blasted it with the works. It is really in severe shock. I accidentally dripped watered down neem on mine when getting scale off my zz plant and it fried little drops size burns all over it. On the bright side, you have a new leaf coming up! It’s going to be ugly for a while but it could pull through. Can you return it to the nursery for a refund? I mean . . . they torched your plant.

My go to for mealies is sitting down with a box of q-tips, rubbing alcohol (70 or 90 work), and a head lamp. I go through and check every leaf individually, wipping off any mealies I see w the q-tip, nooks and cranies too as much as possible. Then I spritz the entire plant and soil (and really good in the nooks) with diluted rubbing alcohol. Have to do it once a week, for a while, but it does work.
