I asked here about caring for the shoots that keep coming up, and was informed that my rock pile was terrible for the tree and stressing it. So today I removed it, removed grass from 3 ft around the tree, added mulch and a border. hopefully my tree will be happier!

It’s slightly better but did no one suggest learning about the root flare?
The tree will certainly be better without the rocks, great job there.
