Is this plant easily maintained? Saw it on my friends house and I really like it, so, I was planning to have something like this plant on my kitchen area.

I rescued one July 4th. Seems pretty easy so far. Doesn’t look to need a ton of humidity. I’ve kept it in my grow tent under bright lights to boost growth. Give it the right substrate and keep it fed, shouldn’t be too hard.

Looks beautiful, very easy on pocket 🙂

It needs good light to keep up the pattern on the leaves and needs well draining soil, but it isn’t super picky about humidity. My only recommendation is to get it out of the soil it’s in when you buy it, as that will hold far too much moisture for your average home environment – they pot them in that soil so they don’t dry out too much during shipping, but it’s too much for at home care.

Just keep in mind that if you have kids or animals that might chew on it, their tongues will swell up (hence the common name, Dumb Cane). But yes, it’s pretty easy.

I have this, diffenbachia, very easy to grow! Mine have a lot of indirect sunlight and they thrive

I have one and as long as shes watered she’s happy
I have this one in my sunroom on the west side of my house and it gets plenty of light for most of the day due to south, west and north facing windows.

I love dieffenbachia and I am good with plants, but I will say I have had trouble keeping these guys alive. Ironically, the only one I currently have left is growing a low light setting in a vase of water! It has been happily living there for at least four years. Every now and then, I think I should pot it, but I don’t want to go borrowing trouble!
