This thing started growing out of my oxalis a few weeks ago and I have no clue what it could be. It feels rubbery like a succulent and has ribbed leaves with little black flower/ flower adjacent growths on them that fall off when touched. I don’t know where It could have came from because this pot has had oxalis growing out of it for years and has no reason to have anything else grow out of it, much less this weird little guy. Im captivated by it, but what is it?

Mother of millions, kill it now before you can’t!
It is a succulent. A kalanchoe, mother of thousands/millions. All those little things on the leaves are babies which drop, root, and spread everywhere. Super invasive in some parts and just pop up when the babies fall off. Even in some people’s houses. They’ll drop off and grow out of carpet. Never ever plant them outside.
Great little succulents for indoors/in pots only, if you live somewhere warm and these are not native like Florida or Georgia, do not allow it to grow in the ground
Nuke it from orbit.
It’s the only way to be sure
A Kalanchoe …
A Kalanchoe .
This plant is only problematic in some areas. I grew it indoors and outdoors in Texas with no issues – but I was in a dry area. If you are anywhere where it freezes in winter, there is no danger of it escaping. When they are mature they flower ONCE and it is a glorious sight – pink bells that can go on for several months. After it flowers, the parent plant dies. You can pop those babies off of the leaves and toss into shallow pots if you want to make minis. They will fall on the ground and persist for sometime, but I’ve never seen one “sprout from the carpet” – and I’ve kept these for decades.
Get rid of it it’s hell on the horizon
Make sure you are very careful when you get it out of there – any one of those little sprouts falls and it’s your new nightmare. Put it in two plastic bags and trash it. Don’t even let pieces of it touch soil, it will literally grow off of blank concrete.
They call it Mother of Many Thousands for good reason…
Mother of millions has health benefits. Look it up on Google. Medicine uses from mother of millions and it multiplies like crazy

It does well in large jars so it can be contained 😅
