Hello,
I have had my Spanish Moss for about 2 months now. I have them hanging from hooks in my kitchen near the back door and a window. I have been soaking in rainwater or in tap water that I have let sit for 24-48 hours once a week. Last time was about a week ago. Today I noticed a brow hue to them and upon inspection some tips are black and the black line is running through some bits. The plant feels a little dry.
I have trimmed and moved outside for a bit and plan to soak and get a mist bottle tomorrow.
However, i am not sure what could be causing this. I live in Northen Virginia and the inside of my house in summer ranges from 61- 71 fahrenheit. I dont have central air. The kitchen usually has a fan going most of the day and I can see the moss moving occasionally from the fans. I m worried they may not be getting enough sunlight. We get a lot of morning early afternoon sun in the kitchen, but perhaps they are up too high?
Or too densely slumped together?
Picture of location for reference.

That’s what I would do soak em 15-20 minute. At least 2x month. Love it
it’s definitely up too high. i also wouldn’t be soaking it for that long. try 2 hours 1-2x/week and mist it daily. the fan could be drying it out so a daily misting could be beneficial. just gotta try different combinations until you see the plant is happy. everyone’s microclimates within their homes are different so there isn’t any one-size-fits-all remedy. within my own home, the same thick form Spanish moss thrives in one window and only needs a soaking once a week while in another window it needs twice weekly. i don’t understand it but i just go with it. good luck!
