    Common name “Devil’s Trumpet”
(Datura sp).. you can tell by the leaf shape it’s datura and spiny fruit that it’s devil’s trumpet.

    it’s in the
Nightshade family (Solanaceae) and has toxins in the leaves and flowers.

I have to wonder if someone was having a laugh, planting that on a pedestrian thoroughfare. Beautiful and smell amazing, but damn toxic.

I’m always surprised when places have this growing lol. Why even?

There’s a whole subreddit for datura.. that stuff is not to be messed with in my opinion. Beautiful plant though:

Ah, I just got some seeds from a friend! She calls them Moonflower, but I’ve heard datura. Poisonous.

Gorgeous, incredibly fragrant Datura spp., that here in northern Virginia will reseed, sometimes abundantly. Also, as others have said, from the nightshade family, and so quite toxic if ingested.

I have tried so hard to get rid of this plant in my front landscaping. I gave up and have accepted it as part of my family now.

Go back this evening and the flower will be open like a trumpet.

Datura. It’s hallucinogenic but also deadly if you dont know what you’re doing.

  13. Could be poisonous, but also could be the best night of your life. JK that’s a death wish.
