As far as I know, they are sloes with which pacharán is made. I love its flavor although it leaves your mouth like a shoe.

Best plums in the galaxy

I concur with sloes. Close relative of plums. They’re not really eaten raw as they have a lot of tannic acid in them, but they’re made into drinks and preserves.

Thought they were haskaps at first glance, but definitely agreed they are sloes.
These are in my garden and believe me they are blueberries and they are lovely!

Sloes
They’re not poisonous but you wouldn’t want to eat them as they are very astringent.
Best thing to do is to steep them in gin with sugar to make sloe gin.

I ate them often when I was a kid. It’s definitely an acquired taste.
I am not sure if my stomach would appreciate that today, but I never had any issues. You really can’t eat too many anyway. Your mouth dries out rather quickly

Building on what others have said here, freezing sloes is supposed to improve their raw palatability. Haven’t tried it myself yet, though!

Or damsons?

Can we get a picture or something with scale in it, I grow both plums and slows and without scale I think both would look like this.
