At over 35 years old, this plant in my old room has:

-not been repotted once

-at times, has gone through months and months of not being watered once

-not been given any sort of nutrients almost ever

-not been pruned almost ever

-simply been forgotten about

It has had to fend for itself for as long as I remember – yet it's still somehow alive. An absolute hardcore survivor of a plant

It’s alive, yeah. Maybe I’m over sensitive and people will say “it’s a plant it doesn’t have feelings”, but listing all of these neglectful things you’ve done for 35 years just made me so sad for this plant.

Fun! I just got two babies of this from a neighbor, I guess I can pretty much ignore them 😆

This is an SCP of a plant 😭 please have mercy on it for surviving the abuse and give it care

  4. To be fair, these guys have evolved to survive long periods of drought, so months without water isn’t terribly abusive…they’re built to survive that! They also naturally grow in low nutrient soils, as like a good portion of succulents, so fertilizing isn’t really necessary (though if it’s been in the same soil for this long, the nutrients are probably completely depleted).

What this guy really needs is more light.

On an aside, can you prune this? I have this plant and pruning would just mean chopping off the head?

That thing is scary af. Seeking victims.😱

  7. I can’t wrap my head around how big it is. It looks like it’s on a desk, but the metals and cabinet on the left look like standard height. But that looks like a monitor on the right. 😵‍💫

Has become sentient.Out to take over your home now.😁

It’s gonna look so good after a proper chop and repot! Update with pics!!

Surprisingly no. My parents used to have one like that, but despite large parts of it being bone dry, the living top ends of those husks would continue growing taller over the years. First it was up on a windowsill, then a little stool and eventually just down on the floor, but eventually over the decades it always reached the ceiling.

A few weeks ago they replaced their floor and the surviving monster had to be moved to a different spot for a week or so. Instantly died.
