Having a great-looking yard isn’t always an easy task. Your neighbor probably has years of experience in knowing what and when things need to happen in order to have the healthiest lawn possible.
Do you have big brown spots all over your yard? Maybe the front yard looks perfect, but the backyard is just full of dirt or sandy patches and lots of thistles, and you just don’t know where to start in fixing your lawn problems.
THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA LAWN CARE CALENDAR
Well, you’re in luck. You don’t have to know everything. The University of Minnesota Extension office has created a ‘Minnesota Lawn Care Calendar’ that you can follow to make sure that your lawn is healthy and green.
The ‘Minnesota Extension Lawn Care Calendar’ can tell you what you need to do right now, and what the next step will be in keeping your lawn at its healthiest.

Since we are in August, the calendar says that right now is a perfect time to aerate your yard. Mid-August through mid-October is the best time to Aerate, while you can also do it in late April through May.
IT’S TIME TO DETHATCH!
Dethatching is also a task that you can complete. The best time of year for dethatching is mid-August through the month of September.
DO I NEED TO FERTILIZE MY LAWN?
What about fertilizing your lawn? The best time to do it is early August through mid-October, and then an ‘okay’ time to do it would be next spring, beginning in May through late June.
Seeding and Sodding are also questions that people have about their yards, which they usually think they need to wait until spring. Not the case. Seeding and Sodding are late summer early fall jobs.
THE PERFECT GIFT TO YOURSELF
This is a lot of information for you to absorb right now. To make your yarding life easier, simply click HERE now, and either download the Minnesota Lawn Care Calendar, or bookmark it and make a note to check your Lawn Care Calendar every month to stay on top of things that need to be done, and to find out when the best times to complete those tasks are, and if you DO miss the best window, get the second best possible solution through the calendar.
