Maypop/Passionfruit! Their flowers are lovely, and fruit is tasty. I found some growing wild behind my office – got a few of the fruit to try to cultivate them at home!

Is it just me or do the leaf silhouettes look like birds?

    A DELICIOUS TREAT

Gods I miss Maypops and Paw Paws… Stupid California and it’s limited native edible fruit

Just so you’re aware, the fruit is ripe when it drops or comes off the vine in your hand with the slightest tug. There is a lot of hollow space in the fruit – it’s the goo around the seeds which has the flavor. Not much of it, but luckily it’s usually strong flavored enough that it can be diluted. Store bought, from Passiflora edulis is usually mixed with pear or apple juice to sweeten & make less sour/more palatable.
