Ok, so I just noticed one of my older orchids is producing a second baby stem. I’ve never seen this happen before and it’s actually so fascinating. Is this a normal occurrence?
A sign of good health?
I would be thankful for all the experts chiming in with their knowledge. This seems like a great opportunity to learn more about orchids!

I have had a keiki sprout from a flower spike, about ten inches above the mother plant. First it grew three fair sized leaves (about the size of an average woman’s palm), then it started growing four roots. I waited until those were about as long as my finger, then I cut the keiki off of the spike stem and planted it in orchid bark and it started growing a massive root system before I saw any leaf growth. That took like three months, maybe because I had put it in a really big six inch pot.
