This is a potted madagascar palm that I have had for about a year now. I live in Arizona and the summer's here right now have been very hot, dry and brutal. The plant is underneath an awning, and it gets morning sun and is in shade for the afternoon.
It was doing really well for a while; but over the last couple weeks, it has starting browning as you can see in the picture. I water it every few days, and I give it about 8 oz of water.
I'm not sure if it's just the 100F+ weather, or if I am underwatering it, or what. – I was hoping someone may be able to offer some advice.

Try reducing the frequency of watering. These don’t need much water at all and it looks like you have mold on the surface of your substrate. You can let it dry out for a bit and see if things improve. It is better to water deeply in fewer watering events (more water, but less often).
Don’t worry about the leaves, they also photosynthesise through the trunk, get it more sun, they need 8 hours a day to thrive, during the summer give it a good watering in the morning, they get their water from heavy summer sea fogs in their natural habitat. It requires little to no watering during the winter when it goes dormant. It should be able to deal with Arizona sun, but just rotate it if you notice the trunk discolouring.
