I think why I failed my succulents as beginner was only on basic things (lights and water). I thought some can be put indoor indirect bright light (echeveria, kalanchoes, portulaca) but then they became severely etiolated. Now I put them outdoor (except Haworthia and sinocrassula outdoor in draped light) . Also on watering, I thought I can water once the soil is bone dry. Turns out for some IDs like Echeveria, I need to wait more for the sign of thirst. Also for some IDs that are prone to root rot, I use clear plastic pot so I can track the watering. Thanks to this sub and chatgpt to help me learn how to tend these babies!

Do you have grit throughout the mix, or just as top dressing? In picture 3, it looks like your soil mix is very organic, which will make it harder to get the watering right.
