We currently have a 'traditional' lawn, a mix of mainly grass with creeping charlie, clover, etc.
Our yard isn't huge and we do have veggie beds etc, the ultimate goal is to add some large beds of native plantings, but first on the list is the lawn. We need it dog-friendly, preferably something that doesn't need frequent mowing or watering.
I'm thinking the easiest route would be cutting low and overseeding. I've been looking at a few different companies, wondering if anyone has tried either of these:
PetLawn Seed Mix – Earthwise Seed
PT 767 Dog Park Eco-Lawn Mix with Microclover® – Pro Time Lawn Seed
Also, I love love love dandelions, so I'm planning to mix some dandelion seed in there too, unless that's a bad idea.
Or if someone has experience with a different seed mix they'd recommend, I'm all ears!
I'd love some tips on the best way to overseed, also.

This subreddit is called NoLawn.
I would recommend you wood chip the entire thing, and plant native plants in patches, almost like throw rugs, in spots here and there, and put up little fences around them until established to keep the dogs out.
No lawn.
Where in 4b/5a are you? Some native grasses might be suitable, but the “dog friendly” part runs into the fact that few native groundcovers can stand up to high traffic and romping dogs as well as a commercial turf grass bred for the task.
Why not leave the lawn as is for the dog and work on the rest.
Things you can do piecemeal that don’t involve removing the lawn
* Widen existing flowerbeds and foundation plantings, incorporating native plants.
* Add flower beds and mixed shrub borders along the fences
* Widen the front walk and add interesting plants along the walk.
* Make a vegetable garden
* Plant some native shade trees and privacy trees
