My dog brought this inside after a walk, and it doesn’t look like any of the plants I’ve noticed growing in the area. Reverse image search says it’s a ribwort plantain, but I’m not convinced.
That is a pine cone that has had most of the “petals” chewed off of it.

Rodent-chewed pinecone for sure.

How many chomps does it take to get to the center of a pinecone? Woof, woof…..the world may never know.

That’s a denuded pinecone.

Squirrels do that to pine cones when they’re getting at the seeds. This is done when the pine cones are green and still on the tree. I like that they do this because it means less pine cones for me to pick up off my lawn.
