I just got my first Thai constellation cutting to propagate and I’m worried she’s rotten! She was in the post for a couple of days wrapped in wet kitchen towel. The bottom was black so I cut about 1cm off but I’m worried it’s spread already due to the colour of the inside of the stem once I cut it. Is that aerial root rotten or normal colour? Is that rot where the stems part? Help me please!

Looks fine to me. If there’s no smell and it’s not soft/squishy those are good signs too
You can add some hydrogen peroxide into the prop water as well. But it looks fine to me
I’m no expert, but I think that aerial root is dormant.
When I got my Thai con, the short aerial root nub turned black just like that, maybe from shock? Now that I have it on a moss pole, it recently broke open, visibly cracking through its black shell, and is now slowly heading towards the damp moss in the pole!
Editing to add that I think it has to do with the localized humidity near the root. In my case, at least. Aerial roots are, after all, true roots, not just for support.
