Longmont’s National Night Out event will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in Longmont’s Garden Acres Park, 2058 Spencer St.
According to a news release, residents will have the opportunity to interact with local first responders and see firetrucks, police cars and other emergency vehicles. Children will have the chance to learn about emergency vehicles in a more hands-on way through a “touch-a-truck” event, and they can complete a punch card activity to earn a gift.
The city advises attendees to bring their own lawn chairs and let the event organizers handle the rest. Free food, including hot dogs, chips and soft drinks, will be provided, as well as Kona Ice snow cones.
There will be a drone demonstration at 6 p.m. The best spot to view the drone show is in the grassy area by the east parking lot, the release says.
National Night Out programs are hosted annually by police departments throughout the United States. Their mission statement, according to their website, is to serve as “a national community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships.”
