Does anyone know what the heck is happening to Bernard?? I'm currently on vacation from home and I won't be back for a month, but my mom went to soak him and found this on him.
He normally sits in that seashell. From what she said, the weird white part isn't squishy, and it didn't look white until after she soaked him for 5 minutes. She said the plant seemed like he was a little bit stuck to the inside of the shell, like he wasn't dry last time, and he dried to the shell. Otherwise, she said he seems fine.
Does anyone know what's going on? Please help!

Could it mabey be glue residue that you just never noticed? The brown part seems more concerning to me, because this couöd be rot witch is basicly death for airplants but i cant confirm anything, because the pics arent close enough
Pretty sure it’s glue. The brown part is the root end of the plant and looks ok from the pics. Sometimes the leaves turn darker brown after a soak so I think that’s what this is.
I would tell your mom to leave the glue alone and wait till you come home so you can carefully remove it. And I’d remove it by soaking the plant fist and hopefully it’ll soften up and come off. You might end up losing a few bottom leaves but if the root stays intact it should be fine.
