  1. That does look like the smooth edged variety that grows in the NE US. Using a glove tear a few leaves and snap a few branches carefully and see if the breaks turn black.

If it’s poison ivy it’s the weirdest I’ve ever seen. Leaves aren’t ordinarily curled up like this.

Shiny leaves of 3, check. Formation is weird. Proceed with caution.

I wouldn’t touch that with bare hands, that’s for sure

Just noticed the tiny berries. That confirms it for me. It appears to be wilting.

I believe it is poison ivy which has probably been herbicided or otherwise is wilting from heat/drought. Do be aware that even if it is dead you can still get a rash from it.

Not a poison ivy expert but I’ve seen a lot in my day and while this is unusual looking, I think it is unfortunately. There are drupes (the berries) and shiny leaves of 3. I would proceed with extreme caution.

That is some of the most vibrant poison ivy i’ve ever seen

After getting one of the worst cases of poison ivy in my life, off of a plant exactly like this, I can definitively say that it is poison ivy.

when it’s wilty and shiny, that’s when it’ll get you the worst

  11. I’m getting itchy just from looking at the photo.

It’s the berries that make this definitely poison ivy in my book. Is it attached to a tree just out of frame?

Have the same bush/mini tree. Called several landscape companies to remove. Some said nope, 1 said “see you in January”.

Black spot poison ivy. Extreme caution needs to be taken when removing. I can rip out poison oak, sumac and regular poison ivy by the roots and rub it anywhere on me without any reaction. This abomination in the dead of winter with the main roots cut months prior broke me out all over my face arms and chest because the tree it was in was good firewood and I used gloves and wor long sleeves because my now ex wife was allergic to all of them so I took precautions. I cut maybe 5 pieces of it with the chainsaw and pulled the old dead vines off while wearing gloves. I took a shower and put my clothes in the washer by themselves immediately after coming in from cutting and processing the wood. By the next morning I had black blisters and oozing black wounds on my face neck arms and hands. It stained my sheets and made me feel like I had the flu. Honestly I looked like an extra from the walking dead for about a week. I had to get steroids and some kind of cream for the itching that absolutely would not let me sleep. It was hell on earth please be careful.

  16. Good lord, and I thought the poison Ivy hiding under the mass of porcelain vine I chopped out was massive.
