How come it doesn’t pick up the clipping despite being very clearly NOT full?

  1. Moving too fast for the length of grass/dampness and doesn’t have time to suck it up?

It’s likely the bag sagging at a certain point and causing a gap where the grass shoots out

Mine has has a plastic plunger type thing that I need to remove before grass will shoot into the bag. Check if there is something in the chute

Is your mower deck clean? If you have clumps of grass stuck to your mower you will not get the right suction to get grass into the bag.

Are you using a mulching blade? Does the deck have a big plastic plug where the grass goes into the bagger that needs removed?

There’s a few things that would cause this…

    A) mulch plug left in or you have a handle that can redirect a variable amount of clippings to the ground.
    #
    B) grass is overly thick / wet / long (or any combination).
    #
    C) wrong blade type (mulch vs bagging).
    #
    D) your mower is ass at bagging.

Does your bag have good airflow? Is it clogged?

Try one number higher in the front, helps when bagging.

  9. Based on your replies to other comments, you seem pretty clueless about your mower. Nothing wrong with that, but maybe try googling some things about your model or looking up the manual. Probably don’t have a high lift blade installed and/or something is not set up properly for bagging (mulching plug removed, moving a lever/handle to bagging, etc.)

I believe I have the same mower as you. I also had problems with the mower becoming clogged up and the bag only filling half full. On each wheel there is a tab you can push in and move to adjust the height of the mow. Move it up one on each of the wheels so that the mower is mowing a bit higher. This completely solved my problem.

You gotta cut more often my dude. You’re cutting too much blade length – can clearly see that you’re getting down to the root stalks on some of the blades. Cutting more frequently will take off less material per cut, and give your mower a fighting chance to bag your clippings.

Dump more often. They dont fill up to the brim. My bag is usually halfway full or less. When its empty my bag will puff up when mowing. And when it gets full it dosent puff up anymore.
