According to my plant D app it’s Asimina triloba, or Pawpaw

    Pawpaw! Or Asimina triloba.

Like a cold hardy mango! Native to the east side of North America.

Paw paw, its kind of like a banana pudding with a hint of kiwi maybe?

They taste best when they’re so ripe they fall off the tree.

Is it time already? Usually not ripening until September in Maryland

Oh wow, paw paw are so delicious! Wait till they fall, then ripen another day or two indoors. A custardy texture, reminiscent of mango/banana with a sort of caramel undertone. Raw or cooked, yum!!

  7. As others have said, pawpaw. Wait until they fall off when you shake the tree, typically mid September

There’s a couple paw paw trees in a park near me. Waiting for them to get ripe so I can grab a few.

That’d be north americas native tropical fruit, the Holy Grail of wild edibles IMO

Pawpaw! Taste Like a cross between mango and banana.

I find them every once in a while here in southern Ohio

Hedge apples are a fruit and much larger. They are not edible fruit for people.

In South Africa Papaya is commonly called Pawpaw. Wonder why.

As everyone has said it’s a pawpaw.
Edible fruit is just the beginning, it’s wood is good for friction fire, it’s layered inner bark makes hardy strong cordage which insects won’t eat and it’s good fire tender when dry.
The leaves can be rubbed on your skin as a bug repellent.
    Really great plant!

Paw paw. They are delicious! And I STG mods if you come at me… It’s the most tropical fruit without being tropical.
