I feel like Homegrown National Park is doing a good job on education. So many people spray for mosquitoes with “natural” chemicals. We need a good education campaign that is simple enough for people to understand.
Can the EPA use this news to push for laws to restrict pesticides? I’m guessing that’s if the health of the EPA was good but I’m assuming it’s not
“Mosquito-only” fogging companies and similar broad use *cides are raping our suburban neighborhoods of biological diversity and living mass.
There were fewer pollinators in my garden this year 🙁 Not just the butterflies but the bees too.
Edit: I do wonder if one of my neighbors spray their garden/yard, because some of my neighbors are the type to kill rat snakes on sight (and yes we tried telling them that they are harmless but they didn’t care).
So from what I remember there are two groups of monarchs in North America. A group that go Mexico to the north eastern side and then another group that goes along the west coast. Last I read, which was a year or two ago the west coast monarchs were faring better than the east coast, but this article is talking about California monarchs dying in huge numbers which is even more sad. What are we going to do?
