Hello gardeners!
I have two small trees in my back/front garden that I am thinking I might just have to let go of. Please tell me I can save them!
The first is the katsura tree (in front of that lilac against the wall), this is Boyd’s Dwarf so a smaller selection. It’s been in the ground for coming up to two years. I planted it with great care and it was staked (the stakes have just started to come loose in a recent storm here, it wasn’t always this badly staked!) but it has such a lean to it. Can this be corrected at all? Will it ever straighten? It’s leaning south, but that part of the garden doesn’t really struggle for sun and light.
The second is a crabapple I planted last year. It’s far too heavy with fruit, so the branches are really drooping. Do I need to prune this? I haven’t done anything to it yet. Should it be taken back quite a lot? I don’t care if I lose blossom/fruit, I just want a decently shaped little tree.
Any advice much appreciated!

Just re stake it, it’ll be fine. Yes you can remove some of the fruit off the crab apple if it’s affecting form, leave some for winter colour and the birds. You can also use canes and soft velcro tree ties to train the young growth.
