Notice exuding sap from my big old tree in my driveway. I mentioned it to my landlord but they don’t seem concerned. A pretty big crack can be seen on the front face with lots and lots of sap. Would love any feedback here on what y’all think

Well, it’s the landlord’s tree so let him worry about it.

No that crack is not a good thing but there I don’t think there is anything you can do about it. Perhaps nothing anyone can do about it.

    You had me at “Landlord.”

I’m sure you have plenty of things to worry about. That tree and your apartment / house simply ain’t one of them.

*I’m about ready to sell my fucking house and go back to renting because this fucking place is nickel and dimeing me to death!*

  3. I have an oak tree with a similar split and seeping dark sap. So I’m curious what the cause is, as well.

Notify your landlord in writing, in case it damages you or your property. I mean it doesn’t sound like it will, but at least you will be covered if it does.

It’s an old scar but not something I’d worry about. Looks healthy otherwise.

Same thing on a a big Doug fir on my property. It completely died over 2-3 years.
