Hello, I was looking for a second opinion on this Monstera aurea rooted cutting being sold locally. Besides TC thais, variegated monsteras are very hard to come by where I live so I’m quite interested so long as it’s likely to be stable. The seller claims either this or the mother plant (unsure from their phrasing) was purchased as an aurea, and not just a box store sport. I’ve asked for pictures of the mother plant if possible, and the new growth once hardened off. The seller is asking $60 CAD.
Mostly looking for opinions on whether 1. Variegation is likely to be stable, and 2. Given this, whether $60 seems appropriate, given the possibility of more variegated monsteras entering mass tissue culture, as we are seeing with mints, etc.
Many thanks in advance!

It heavily depends on where you live , but more importantly if it makes you happy ! If you can spend the $60 on this plant and you’ll be happy with it for long time then why not ! I personally would wait for prices to go down/ higher variegation for that price but yolo.
If you didn’t live in Canada I’d send you a full rooted high variegated aurea. 🙁
I’d advise you to not go for this one and wait on one with better variegation!
Is the stem showing any signs of variegation
It looks like it has striping on the stem but it’s always a gamble with cuttings as to where the new growth comes from unless it’s a top cutting, even then they can revert. It’s not overly variegated but then Iv had low variegated cuttings produce some stunning leaves. New leaves on an Aurea monstera come out yellow/lime and then burn into the pattern they eventually have. Been lucky with mine and it gave very good leaves even though the original leaf on the cutting was only speckled. If it’s hard to come by where you are, and it’s what you are comfortable spending, then go for it. Something is only worth as much as someone is willing to pay for it, so my grandfather use to say. Most variegated plants are a gamble regardless, so it’s really about if you want it and are happy to pay that for it, considering you say how hard they are to get where you are

You can find aurea with much better variegation. Wait and don’t let instant gratification trap you!
I ran out of Newfoundland as soon I finished school.. nothing available there and whatever available is too expensive😂
