There are lots of types of airplants. Some stay white, others green. This type doesnt like water a ton. The silver aspect are called trichomes. They help airplants catch water particles in the dry air in their natural environment.

Do you happen to know the type. Just on my knowledge of tectorum and paleacea, you kinda treat them like succulents. As in… all airplants like a good watering, its just the intervals that change. The super fuzzy ones I have (and read about) want to be soaked once a month. So set a calendar event of when to deep soak them. Outside that they want a light mist every once in a while. Think of it like morning dew. In the wild, they’d get the dew but it doesnt last and doesn’t really count as watering. So mist once a week or 2 or 3 whatever fits your style, soak once a month, and they are good.
Look up care for tectorum. This isn’t what you have (I dont think) but will help you get an idea.
