I have this weed that’s just recently started coming up all over my yard. Any ideas on how to get ride of it. I regularly use weed/feed .

    Ooo it’s my turn!

    Nutsedge.

    Use Sedgehammer.

Yellow nutsedge. It requires a specific herbicide (halosulfuron) that isn’t in weed n feed.

I suggest stopping the weed n feed in general and spraying your herbicides. They work better applied to the leaves instead of the roots, and you can separate the timing so your fertilizer goes down when it’s supposed to and the herbicide when it’s actually needed.

Then your lawn won’t die back from excessive spring nitrogen.

Nutsedge get.sedgehammer it’s a pesticide that will work. It’s going to keep coming back and spread. You gotta get the nut like 6″ down if you want to pull it and don’t miss any.

  5. Sedgehammer Plus Turf Herbicide worked really well for me. Killed it in about 2 weeks. Don’t pull them!

K does NOT “promote immune response and stress resistance” in turfgrass. If your turfgrass is not deficient in K, do not add K.

Yellow nutsedge – pull it out. Use a pre-emergent next year. You can really only prevent for next time.

I’ve got the same and plan to use sledgehammer. I’m in central Florida though and we’re getting temps in the high 90’s. Nervous about putting it down on my zoysia with such high heat

As everyone else has pointed out, it’s yellow nutsedge. Some tips from my own experience:

    * Everyone says Sedgehammer. This is halosulfuron and if you look on [diypestcontrol.com](http://diypestcontrol.com) you’ll find it also sold under other brand names like Empero.
    * Another herbicide to consider is sulfrentrazone but this is more heavily restricted for purchase depending on where you live.
    * Personally I have been spraying nutsedge with halosulfuron for years and it doesn’t seem to consistently work well, even with repeat applications.
    * The conventional wisdom is that pulling this by hand will cause it to spread further. My understanding is that this can be true if the underground tubers have fully developed. If you search this sub you’ll find folks saying they’ve pulled nutsedge with success, that it generally keeps it at bay and reduces the infestation year over year. If left unchecked it can spread to take over large parts of your lawn, and in that circumstance, hand-pulling is going to be really time consuming and annoying. But if you only have a small amount…. yeah I know I will probably get downvoted for this 🙂
