I nuked my lawn two years ago and this is starting to show up randomly and getting worse. I used a KBG blend a friend recommended and thought it was pure so not real happy to see this. What options to I have to clean this up? Different type of grass in the second pic?

I have spots of the same thing and I think it’s K31, which is a clumping fescue. I’m going to try and kill some soon by using glysophate applied carefully with some cooking tongs and sponges zip ties. Just bought those items from IKEA yesterday. If it works, then I’ll just seed the spots that die. I suppose I could dig them out too, but I wonder if not completely removed will it come back?
Yep, coarse/clumping/forage type tall fescue. Probably came in the seed blend.
Not any chemical options I know of to selectively eliminate it in KBG. So you can dig it out, refill with soil sand mixture, and reseed. Or glyphosate and reseed. Or you can use something like [the lawn liberator](https://www.nicegreenlawn.com) to put glyphosate right in the leaves. There are other diy methods to do it too. Might not have to reseed using this last method.
I have the same thing in my yard and got good results with digging up the big clumps and transplanting in some Kentucky Blue Grass chunks I dug out from the edges of my mulch beds. The clumps left a decent sized hole in the lawn so I added some dirt to level out the hole and the transplants took nicely.
K31. Dig it out.
Yup. Maul it down to the central “stump” with your string trimmer and dig it out by hand.
I killed all mine with Chlorosulfuron. Tears XP.
It works but its gonna create a lot of dead patches.
I used vinegar in a pump sprayer to spot kill it. Takes a couple applications but it does the job. Bubbles it to the dirt and dig it out. I’m taking my time with it cause my lawn is looking rough. So this fall I’ll be that thing and seeding.

True story
Are you me?
Dealing with the exact same issue for a couple years now. No solutions, but glad to know I’m not the only one who is frustrated by this thing.
Had a large spot of this in my back yard in the spring. It was super easy to pull all of it up after a big rain by grabbing the base then twisting+pulling. Never came back and the St. Aug easily filled it in.
