I never seen anything like this, I am a bit confused. I usually don't do anything to a new bought plant for a few week or more depending on the roots but now I am a bit puzzled. I think it had plenty of water and good light.
Any advice is very welcomed and appreciated 🙏🏼🙏🏼

Where I used to work we called these “the cage of death” they’re used for the plants when they’re young in the nurseries to reduce the labour in potting them on because in theory the roots grow out the holes, but what generally happens is the roots get all tangled in the cage and can’t get out and then it ends up with super weak roots in a tight ball in the middle and nothing in the soil outside. Eventually it dies from root rot, dehydration, or lack of nutrients.
100 percent remove the cage if you can. I recommend cutting it off in pieces with a sharp paid of scissors
Cut it off and do your best to keep the roots intact. It will choke the roots and prevent the plant from thriving later on. You also want to remove it while you still can because the roots will cluster around the outside. I have seen this before a few times. Also, size up the outer pot by 2 inches larger than the root ball (height-wise and width-wise).
