New lawn after building the pool and it has completely gotten away from me while I was working out of town.
Not sure it’s worth saving what little grass is left?

  1. When you walk around the garden squint and it’ll look ok

I mean, it’s up to you how much work you want to do. If you don’t live in an hoa, at least it’s green??? The crab grass actually needs less water anyway so it’s probably cheaper too, lol

You’re about 20% away from a full lawn of crabgrass if that’s what you’re going for

Sucks, same happened to me. Not sure why the landscaper did not put a pre emergent down before seeing . Got to nuke it and reseed in fall

You will spend an absolute fortune in selective herbicides trying to get rid of the weeds and foster grass growth.

If that’s all crabgrass or a similar weed, then yeah I would. Just glysophate the whole yard rake it out and do whatever grading or amending you want. Plant some seed based on your location or get sod.

  7. Just a backyard in Indy. As a local pool guy I’d wonder what lawn chemicals will seep into the pool and what pool chemicals will do to whatever grass you grown moving forward. Keep the front nice and you’ll be in good shape with the neighbors

Did you get your seeds from the dollar store?

You could, but you don’t really need to. Winter will nuke the crabgrass. In September I would mow as low as possible, aerate and overseed, maybe add some enriched topsoil, and plan on pre-emergent all spring/summer next year

  10. Nah, I saved my lawn from an infestation like this last year. Quinclorac and mesotrione now. Overseed heavily in the fall. Winter fertilizer in late fall to help your grass get a jump on the crabgraas in spring. Prodiamine in the spring. You’re good.
