This makes me happy all summer.
I have five fig trees along the sidewalk. Sometimes I look at my window and see you Mexican grandmother walking her grandkids and she's guiltily grabbing a few figs. I'll walk outside and she'll quickly move away from the tree thinking I'm going to come yell at them or domething – I smile and tell them to take as many as they want. Well, that's the message I hope I'm getting across when I say "mi higlos es su higlos" which is my ludicrously illiterate way of letting them know the figs are there for everyone 🙂

I saw a massive tree like yours on a walk last week and imagine the owner felt the same way. My dog was trying to eat some that had fallen on the ground. I sadly saw none ready for myself. Just dm me and I’ll be there 😉
You’re like the Scott Elder of figs!
Do you fertilize or do anything special besides watering?
You’re close. And that’s really sweet. Mis higos son sus higos. (meese egos son sues egos) You could also hang a little sign that says “free figs/ higos gratis” on your fig tree.
Yes! I have that conversation about loquats every year!
Maybe a nice sign telling people to help themselves! Might have to put it in multiple languages so everybody gets a taste.
Some advice – TRIM THE TREE BACK IN THE WINTER!
My FIL never trimmed his. It grew fast. It grew HUGE. It rotted out and died and was a PITA to deal with.
Are they ripe all summer? My figs are all green and I think I read they won’t ripen for at least a month, if the squirrels don’t get them.
