I’m in year 2 of my front lawn conversion. Things are starting to leap. I planted quite a few things this year and I’m really looking forward to next year.
In the front you’ll see phlox, prairie drop seed(these take so long to grow!), veronica, sativa, milkweed, yarrow, coneflowers, blazing star, lavender.
In the back you’ll see hydrangea bushes, elderberry trees , cherry tree, NE Asters, soloman’s seal, moderna.

How do you like that steel edging? Which brand did you go with?
Fyi, I grow both the regular Joe Pye weed and a very short version. The biggun is dramatic as hell but would take up your front yard. Look online for the short one. It flowers enthusiastically and is very well behaved. It’s blooming now, 7a.
Other low maintenance winners are blue star amsonia, culver’s root, bapisia and Zagreb coreopsis (doesn’t flop).
TIL what we call hebe in New Zealand is known as Veronica over seas and that they are popular! We have very similar looking ones in our garden, the pollinators love them.
Also, your garden looks great!
