    Chores…

    Mow the grass

Trim the trees for a tree house

    Paint the deck

    There’s plenty to do

Treehouse, soccer goal, woven branch fort, picnic table, sitting area, and or etc. kids like room to run around, if you do nothing but keep the grass they’ll be happy at their ages.

Edit: if your kids get into sports you have the area to set up a training area, like soccer goals, baseball/ soccer bounce back net , mini half pipe, dirt bike trail, basketball hoop, rock climbing wall the list goes on.

  3. Honestly, keep it like that. What a great place to play.

Build or install a slide attached to the deck. Lay out a circuitous path that winds through the trees and plant groups of evergreen and deciduous shrubs that will enclose parts of the path. Kids love winding paths that are enclosed with vegetation. I’ve designed two of these adventure trails and they’re a bip

Plant giant rhododendron all around the deck so they can go underneath to the secret fort you don’t know is there.

Kids like flowers. Make some small beds and help them pick out some plants! They can help plant them and learn while they do it!

I’d put a chair on the deck so I can sit back and enjoy life in the backyard

    Looks great as is.

    What are their interests?

You have room for one or two. Treehouse? Play house? Swing set? Soccer goal? Mud kitchen? Sandbox? Little veggie garden? Kiddie pool? Splash pad? Small pony?

Recycling waterfall/creek feature with native plants to attract wildlife. Good fun and education, especially with a trail cam

Lock them outside from dawn to dusk.

Soccer, wiffle ball, disc golf basket, tree house, zip line, small garden, etc. That’s a lovely backyard. I always thought it would be so cool having a forest just beyond the back fence. Looks like a wonderful place to grow up

I have kids and a backyard like this, and nothing has ever had the lasting appeal of the Large Pit Filled With Dirt. Like a sandbox, it is a 10x10ft space surrounded by pavers with dirt in the middle, and the kids are encouraged to dig in that spot or do whatever they want with it. They dig trenches and build mountains. I never touch it.

I would make it wild- a little frog pond and places for birds to nest. A space to feed their curiosity and teach them a love of nature.

Put a hammock between the two trees for the kiddos to relax in

Nothing! Any structure will be unused and a pain in 5 years. That is an amazing space for outdoor free play

Things that my kids play with outside: vegetable garden (picking vegetables), a big livestock tub of water, buckets, digging in the dirt, sandbox, sports equipment

Things my kids don’t play with: toys

Anything that’s like a set thing, they don’t like to play with. Open ended play that’s nature based is much more fun.
