I've named him Philbert, but I'm wondering what his given name is. I'm very new to taking care of/identifying plants. Wanna make sure I'm taking care of him properly.

Snake plant, very low maintenance. Water only once completely dry, overwatering will be just about the only thing that kills it.

And water from the bottom. Take the pot the plant is in out of the pretty container pot. Set the planter pot into a smaller, shallow container of water and let it soak up into the holes of the planter. leave it for 15 to 20 minutes before putting it back into pretty container. Do this maybe once a month or so, depending on heat/dryness of your space. Plant grows slowly. try never to water from the top…plant can rot if water pools on the leaves where they attach.

Snake plants, also known as Sansevieria or Mother-in-Law’s Tongue, are widely recognized for symbolizing resilience, protection, and positive energy. Their ability to thrive in various conditions and purify the air contributes to these symbolic meanings.
