We can do the same thing with squash plants and melons.
I usually take a sucker or stem off the main plant and replanted. This works too.

I have a few plants that suckered off the main stem below the soil level. I've laid them down along the ground to let them root out and continue as a natural vine just to see what happens the rest of the season.
I have a few tomatoes I would like to try to keep I can do that too. They are in big pots so I can just place the good part into a new pot right next to it! Great tip! Never thought of this!!!
