Irondequoit, N.Y. — More than 50 gardens in Irondequoit will open their gates to the public on Sunday for the town’s first-ever free garden walk.
The self-guided event is expected to attract hundreds of visitors eager to explore the diverse horticultural displays.
From traditional Japanese gardens to native wildflower meadows and artistic small yards, the Irondequoit Garden Walk celebrates the myriad ways residents cultivate and beautify their spaces.
“This isn’t a contest or a fancy showcase,” said organizer Sue Magee. “It’s neighbors inviting you to see what they love and what they’re growing. Everyone is welcome.”
Among the highlights is a garden that donates over 1,500 pounds of fresh produce annually to the Irondequoit Community Cupboard.
Other gardens on the tour support pollinators, boast more than 300 orchids, or offer serene backyard retreats.
The event will run from noon to 4 p.m.
