Not my monkey, not my circus, but this tree pit expansion looks like trouble. This tree is just one example of a whole block of trees where this was done. Yes, those ARE bricks.

    The roots that hold the tree up, and the roots that absorb water and nutrients are waaaay outside of that tiny opening.

    The main reason for opening the paving up is to allow the trunk some more room to expand, and more importantly, allow it to remain dry. This will prolong the life of the tree significantly by preventing wet rot at the base of the trunk.

    What do y’all think about the bricks? Should they try to remove them? Or would they fall off in time when the roots expand anyways?
