Lighting stuck this tree. All the bark went flying off. This is my favorite tree 🙁

As if you’re even asking. 🤣 sorry but no. 🤣

Lul at the circle on an arborist sub so the inexperienced amateurs can see and chime in.

Anyhoo, many times it is not immediately apparent whether or not a tree will survive a lightning strike. This is not one of those times.

  3. Almost missed the damage. Thankfully, it was circled and pointed at.

That tree got murdered like 3 times over, dude.

Lmao I love these posts. Completely decimated and y’all are like “is this okay?” It’s cute but hilarious. Sorry for your loss OP!!!

Good thing you circled it…I’d have never noticed the issue!

  7. TurbulenceTurnedCalm

That’s wild. Sorry but the tree is toast. It went down like a champ though.

I’m gonna say no tree will probably not survive.

  9. I’m sorry, I don’t see the issue you’re describing

I would imagine that anything that would sprout from the stump would be fried as well – but for those who deal with such things, is there any chance that it could still respond as if it was coppiced?

Create the Wonder Bat, its the only option

  12. Looks the same as what just happened to mine. It looks like it could be used for a few good 2x4s

Damn thats violent. Looks catastrophic. Significant structural damage. Chance of partial survival? Less than 10%

Edit – 10% is too high. That tree will be coming down in the next wind storm. You should do something about it now.

Yes of course! Trees are resilient. I recommend you putting about 6-12 inches of mulch in a volcano formation around the trunk of the tree. It’s quite helpful in cases like this.

Mom thinks it 50/50. She grows things. Godspeed 👍🏻✨

ETA: Mom said if the arborists say it’s a goner it’s prolly a goner. Her neighbor had a lightning strike and had to put his tree down a year later. Sorry ☠️🪦

  16. Girdling alone will kill a tree, that poor guy got no bark left

  17. jeff2000xx

Let it grow not hurting anyone and plant some new trees

  18. Different_Ad7655

Yeah well it’s not your favorite tree anymore, why would you bother looking at this misshapen mess. Life is too short. Plan something new
