  1. My peppers are still growing and my cucumbers are still growing, but production on all my vegetables has really stalled out. Looking forward to seeing the video on how to help my veggies get back on track.

  3. It's Challenging for sure at this time of year Gary. However, that being said it is NEVER time to give up the garden. a garden brings you so much more than food ever will. We all lose plants, take me this year I have lost every single cucumber fore the first time ever to aphids, we learn and adapt and become better. You will learn far more by failing than you ever will by succeeding. Great video Gary

  4. My garden is insane right now. I havent been able to do anything in it and it's over grown and tons of stuff is thriving. With the rain we have gotten this year I havent had to do much. Most of my garden is volunteers.

  5. Solid advice! Im having more fun now than I have all season. My garden has been under construction (we have been building the fence around it). Now I can really focus, uninterrupted on my plants.
    🎉🍅🥒🫑🥕🍆🥔🥕

  6. I'm just popping in quickly because I have very limited data. I'm hoping to have internet before September 1st. I just had to put in my two cents… I sure hope you don't stop gardening and doing this channel. When my garden was flourishing, the time period between the end of June and the first week of August was always a tough slog. The heat, the humidity, the bugs. And of course the plants were going gangbusters. I had to keep reminding myself that the plants growing so well was the whole point! Nothing better than homegrown vegetables! Since I stopped gardening, which I hope is not a permanent state of affairs, I have had to deal with store bought veggies. What an unfortunate difference. The last time I had a good tasting tomato was when I grew it myself ditto the other vegetables.
Gary, you have done so much work to organize and simplify the way you grow veggies. I know that you eat them and use them in recipes. I know that you give many away to people I'm sure must appreciate the food itself and how delicious it is from fresh grown. And all the while you've been educating people in different formats. I've been one of the fortunate ones to follow you on YouTube and learn so much.
When you get that overwhelming feeling like you just want it to stop, maybe just renew your energy and finish out the gardening season. Then over the winter consider seriously your feelings, and maybe just scale back. Make a new plan. Maybe you can even scale back a bit on YouTube. Something to take the pressure off, maybe the feeling of being overwhelmed. But going from the level you're at now, to quitting everything all together, that may not be what you really want, May wind up not being fulfilling.

  7. I am not happy with my outdoor gardens..my indoor ones are doing fine. My cucumber plants still has not done anything but flower and the tons of tomatoes on the vine are staying green I guess😂

  8. That's funny, because I was just thinking that maybe I'll just have flowers and herbs. I know I won't quit, but I'm in N. GA with bugs, rabbits, groundhogs and this year, deer. I never had deer before; guess the new neighbors don't have dogs which makes the deer brave. However, I have a shady area where they won't go. I may split things up and concentrate on shade tolerant veg. Sigh.

  9. I think next year I’m going to plant hybrid tomatoes that are more disease resistant. I’ve learned how to save seeds from heirloom I’ve grown, now it’s time to grow plants that don’t get diseased as fast.

  10. I LOVE ❤️ this channel SO MUCH. Thank you Gary! I struggle every day to have a garden. I live in the downtown center of a famous city on a busy corner lot. I can't even believe that I have produced a space for a garden, because I rent. Everyone who chats, comments and helps out THANK YOU

  11. I’m blown away by your tomato harvest. Same state and I’ve yet to pick a slicer and the cherries are ripening so slow 😢 I have lots of great fruit just waiting to ripen but on the other hand my plants still look great. So there might be something to the ability for these plants to pump out harvest going along with them burning out. Hopefully next week I’ll have the bumper crop you have!

  12. Cheers, Gary and thank you for the video(s)
I was in the garden earlier feeling very frustrated. I told my daughter I’m going to just go to the farmers market and get my vegetables. Then I look over and see my 1st okra flower of the season. That beautiful flower brought to my attention at that moment was a great encouragement 😊

  13. Thanks for yet another Great video! I believe one of the reasons we All Love your channel, besides your wealth of knowledge, is your Optimism! We all need to be reminded of our Successes! Thank You!

  14. 106° in Central Florida today. I’m not giving up but I’m done with any further maintenance…May the odds be forever in their favor out there!

  15. I am about to quit planting cucumbers. I did what you said, keep planting more. But every time I try to cut off the bottom leaves and treated my plants with DE or Sevin dust. They died, I even bought diseased resistance and wilting resistant. But I three plants

  16. Typically the Squash Vine Borer leave butternuts alone….they have a harder stem and I think that's the reason. The summer squashes are typically fair game for them though…..at least in my garden. I've tried planting them later, and that has worked out most years.
Garden burnout is real. Great video.

  17. NW CT., despite the crazy cold spring, hot humid early summer, and today felt like an apple picking day! Tomatoes and cucumbers are thick, deep green, and loaded with fruit. Pepper plants look a little behind. Keeping up with extra water on hot days, and keeping a spraying routine. It can get a little overwhelming at times but I try to turn that into extra motivation for future plantings. Surprisingly insects haven't been a major issue at all. Just trying to keep things together into late Aug. late September.

  18. Hi. Thank you for this. I want to plant another round of fall potatoes. Do I need to chit them first, or can they just be replanted? They are from my spring crop. I am in Chesapeake, Va

  19. I live in Townsville North Queensland Australia 🇦🇺. Our summer is hot. Humid. Cyclone season. However…I won't quit gardening 😊😅😊

  20. This is such a perfect video. Gardens do bring joy. There are things we cant control but that should not prevent our enjoyment. I just planted green beans and cantaloupe in the space my garlic occupied. Enjoy the ride that gardening provides.

  21. For this time of year your Basil plants look GORGEOUS! I'm in 8B SC with a south facing garden and even with shade cloth the temps in the sun are 110 degrees daily. So the plants might get some 10 to 15 degrees relief.

I have been getting Chinese Long Beans and cucumbers and a FEW zucchini. I planted some Candy Roaster Squash and Watermelons latet this year (the middle of this month)and they just popped up.

Basil for me is the first plant to begin losing the the lower leaves They yellow and then then get brown spots on the leaves and the stems do the same thing.

I think it is SOO hot here that the slicing heirloom tomatoes can NOT take the heat combined with the ridiculous flash flooding which is NOT natural. I need to be replacing the basil on a regular basis. The Sweet potatoes seem to not mind the heat, So I hope they will make it.through.

  22. My garden is limited on space so I use grow bags; everything's going very well here in 6b area. No disease, pest very minimal altho we have had high heat n humidity I just cover with shade cloth or move the bags to shaded area.❤

  23. In 15 years of growing this year has been a tough one. Still have fairly decent production, next year will come soon enough. In my last order of seeds I got a sticker that says ( planting a seed is believing in tomorrow)!

  24. It's been Sooo frustrating ! Lost my spring planting from all the rain for two solid months in spring (UpState NY Zone5) started over … 🤞😅 things are sprouting and trying … now it's sooo hot!?!? Keeping them watered. Cukes are growing soooo slow? Idk squashes are Trying… 😅 ThankYou for the words of encouragement !!!

  25. Wonderful video and it's nice to see how your various plants are doing. I'm a beginner and was wise enough to start small and view it as a learning experience, even though my personality is to go "all in" and get excessive. Right now, I'm learning about pests that can get into a covered Vego bed. I learned the pest eating my kale was the diamondback moth larvae. I just pulled them out and I'll plant more later. Today I realized what I thought was an assassin bug was really some kind of bean pest/weevil (couldn't identify with too many out there!). It was just hanging out on the inside of the netting and I let it be for a couple of days when I should've showed it the way out! 🙄😂 I did see a "daddy long legs" and I know they're predators, so I told it to go get that bean pest. Oh, and I put an elastic band used to hold sheets to a bed mattress around the bed to hold the netting tighter against the bed, and put more binder clips around too. Maybe Vego can do something with a magnetic strip across the bottom of the netting? For the most part, the plants are doing great. 😀

  26. Well , I’ve been thinking it’s to much work. I’m retired, been feeling it’s to big a job . I say that every year
