Any advice on how to move this plant? We are moving houses and it will likely need to be laid down in a SUV type of car. It's at least 6-7 feet tall, super prickly, and over 25 years old.
Proper way would be to get a few large pieces of pliable carpeting and gently intertwine it between some branches.
If you can get a roll of brown paper to wrap loosely around it, hold it in place with tape or twine, or thin bugee cords and have a couple people help you lay it on its side in the vehicle.
Keep it stationary, don’t let it roll around in back
If you can, put it on a rug or matt, so when you arrive at the new house, you can slide it out easier

They handle pruning well but needs a saw to cut. Wipe any damages with a wet paper towels because the Milk burns skin and becomes glue if it dries. I wrapped mine this size in sponge backed table cloths and laid it down in the rental vehicle we had to rent at the last minute to fit it in which is why I mentioned being prepared to prune it if necessary. I have to prune mine every few years up to 4-5 feet tall pieces.
I sell the pieces for 50.00 or more in the local garden group here in eastern Canada. This has hit the ceilings several times which is why it’s pruned. Mine is in a plastic pot set inside a heavy ceramic pot to make it easier to move. Mine has not been repotted in 25 years .

I’d get 3 moving blankets from harbor freight and a roll of duct tape. Get a moving dolly while you are at harbor freight.
