Residents at a retirement complex in Speen have celebrated the opening of their new landscaped garden area.
Benedict Court residents opened the new garden after years of collecting donations and raising money through social events.
Opening of the new garden area at Benedict Court by Newbury MP Lee Dillon
MP for Newbury Lee Dillon cut the ribbon at an opening ceremony held on Monday, June 30.
Residents already improved one side of the garden with a patio.
But their latest work means they can now boast a new grass area, with a second patio and new garden furniture and plants.

Residents expressed their joy at the opening.
One said: “As you enter through the main door, it soon makes you realise you are not alone.”
Another resident added: “One very important attitude that runs through our complex is that of the caring nature for our fellow residents.”

Secretary to the recently formed Benedict Court Tenants Association Jane Kemp said: “We are very pleased with the results and we are grateful to Lee Dillon for paying us a visit to declare our garden officially open already for the summer.”
The complex also has a communal lounge where residents enjoy various activities, functions, hobbies, celebrations and entertainment, or even just a chat.
